Music by different composers
I'm probably going to be shot by this suggestion, but… how about using a different composer for the next GW campaign? <ducks>
I really like Jeremy Soule works, but after going through Morrowind, Oblivion, Prey, Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall, and having bought them all through DirectSong, I'm craving for something different.
I kind miss Matt Uelmen and Jason Hayes. I wonder what they're doing these days… Going east, Yasunori Mitsuda jumps to my mind — Melkaba and Creid still make me shiver.
Maybe alternative soundtracks could be sold by DirectMusic — I'd sure be interested in buying that.
P.S.: The names mentioned in this thread are just a few favorite composers that came to my mind right now. I'm not saying that I'd only enjoy their compositions.

I like the idea, although I usually turn the music off and play my own in the background (got too repetitive).

When I want differnt music I use my own music, but Jeremy Soule is so great that I almost never do so.

Of course, we can always turn off in-game music and fire up iTunes, in every game released, and that doesn't stop companies from hiring excellent composers for their games.
Music is part of the overall gaming experience, and it's great when what I'm listening to matches what I'm seeing. In fact, music is what really makes me remember a moment.
When you think about the first time you fought against Sephirot in FF7, what comes to your mind? The background music or the fight itself? The music, of course.
You can't listen to Tristram song and don't remember the first time you played Diablo. I could feel the sand in my feet when I listen to the Desert music.
Factions and Nightfall also have some very nice compositions. Age of Dragon is just beautiful, and Land of the Golden Sun is awe-inspiring. I'd love to see more of that in Guild Wars, but by different composers.

Wouldn't Jeremy Soule have some contract with NC Soft so they can't really switch?

Actually, I really just think "What?! That fight was easy! I just fought and killed that Ultimate Weapon thing, and for the end game I get this?!"
But I do understand what you mean. But I don't know how much of a profit they'd get from selling different soundtracks to the game. I wouldn't buy them. I rarely buy music apart from my favourite artists, and I never buy instrumental soundtracks. Also, they already do have added music to the game. It's by the same guy, but it's still new music. Do you have that?
